Central Coast Mariners won’t begin talks with Luis Garcia about the marquee man staying on with the club until the end of this season.
Garcia joined the Mariners in January and has scored one goal and set up two others in six appearances. The ex-Liverpool and Barcelona star signed with the club for the rest of the 2015-16 season.

At this stage the 37-year old’s plans after the next five games remains unclear. Mariners coach Tony Walmsley told FourFourTwo the club won’t start negotiations until next season. “Nothing is being discussed until the end of the season,” he said.

Garcia has added some excitement to the A-League and given the Mariners’ attack an extra dimension. Walmsley has been pleased with the midfielder’s output. “From a football perspective he’s been outstanding,” he said. “He lights up the training field. A couple of injuries have set him back but he’s getting better every week. There’s more to come in the last few games.” The Mariners travel to Perth to take on the Glory on Saturday, seeking a much-needed win. Central Coast have only managed three wins this season. Walmsley us hopeful Garcia can make an impact at nib Stadium. “He’s a class act, on and off the pitch,” he said. “Hopefully if he can find some room in Perth tomorrow we can get back to scoring some goals.”
